RX-80 Spray Gun: Complete Parts and Fitment Guide Lets Know

A spray gun takes more abuse than almost any other part of an airless sprayer setup, and the RX-80 is one of the most widely used guns across Titan’s electric sprayer lineup for exactly that reason. It is built to be serviced rather than replaced, which means knowing what goes into it and how the wear parts fit together will save you money over the life of the gun. This guide covers the parts you are most likely to need and how to make sure you are ordering the right ones.

Where the RX-80 Fits Across Titan’s Lineup

The RX-80 is not tied to a single sprayer model. It shows up as the stock gun across a range of machines, including several PowrBeast models and Impact series sprayers, which is part of why it is one of the most commonly replaced parts categories on the whole site. If your gun came standard on your machine, there is a very good chance it is an RX-80 or a close variant, even if the model number stamped on the housing does not immediately look familiar.

That widespread use is actually good news for maintenance. Because so many machines share the same gun platform, RX-80 parts are well stocked and consistently available, rather than being a low volume item that is hard to source when you need it. A contractor running a mixed fleet of older and newer Titan machines often finds that a single set of RX-80 spares covers several guns at once, which simplifies inventory considerably compared to stocking parts for a dozen different gun models.

The Parts That Wear Out First

Trigger components take the most physical abuse on any spray gun, simply because they are moving on every single pull. The trigger pin, the trigger and lock assembly, and the retractor pin are the parts most likely to need replacement first, especially on a gun that sees daily use. If you notice the trigger feeling loose, sticking, or not returning cleanly, these are the first components to inspect before assuming the whole gun needs replacing.

Seal assemblies are the second most common wear point, and they are also the ones most likely to cause a performance problem before they cause an obvious mechanical failure. A worn seal assembly shows up as fluid leaking around the gun body or inconsistent trigger pressure rather than a dramatic failure, which is why a lot of contractors run on a degraded seal longer than they should simply because the gun still technically works.

What a Full Rebuild Involves

A complete RX-80 rebuild is a modest undertaking compared to most equipment repairs, and most contractors can do it in under half an hour once they have done it a couple of times. Start by relieving all pressure and disconnecting the gun from the hose. Remove the trigger assembly first, inspecting the pin and retractor for wear as you go, then move to the seal assembly, checking the housing bore for any scoring that would explain a leak beyond normal seal wear.

Reassemble with fresh seals rather than reusing anything that showed even minor wear during inspection, since the labor cost of reopening the gun a second time within a few weeks far outweighs the price of a new seal. Test the rebuilt gun at low pressure before returning it to full service, both to confirm the repair and to catch any assembly mistake before it becomes a bigger problem mid-job.

Rebuild or Replace

For most contractors, rebuilding an RX-80 with genuine parts costs a fraction of buying a new gun, and the labor involved is straightforward enough to do in the field or the shop without specialized tools. A full seal and trigger rebuild typically addresses the vast majority of performance complaints, since those are the components doing the most cycling and therefore wearing fastest.

The exception is the gun housing itself. If the housing is cracked, warped from heat, or has stripped threads where fittings attach, that is usually a sign it is time to replace the gun rather than continue repairing individual components around a damaged body. A cracked housing will keep causing new leaks in new places even after you have replaced every seal, so it is worth inspecting the housing carefully before investing in a full parts rebuild.

Ordering the Right Parts the First Time

The most common mistake contractors make when ordering RX-80 parts is assuming every gun stamped RX-80 uses identical components. Titan has made small design revisions over the life of this gun platform, and while most parts are backward compatible, it is worth confirming your exact part number against the diagram before ordering, particularly for the trigger assembly and seal components where a slight fitment mismatch can cause leaks even though the part looks correct.

Keeping a basic rebuild kit on hand, rather than ordering parts reactively after a gun fails mid-job, is the single best way to minimize downtime. A trigger pin, retractor pin, and seal assembly cost very little compared to a lost afternoon waiting on parts, and having them on the truck means a worn gun becomes a five minute fix instead of a trip back to the shop.

Buying in Bulk for a Multi-Gun Crew

If your operation runs several RX-80 guns across a crew, it is often worth ordering wear parts in slightly larger quantities than you think you need for the immediate repair. Trigger pins, seal assemblies, and retractor pins are inexpensive individually, and having a small stock on hand across a multi-gun operation means a worn part on any single gun gets fixed the same day rather than waiting on an individual order every time one component wears out somewhere in the fleet.

A Quick Reference for Common Symptoms

Loose trigger with no leak: check the trigger pin and retractor pin first, since these wear from mechanical cycling rather than fluid exposure.

Fluid weeping at the handle or body: inspect the seal assembly, and check the housing bore for scoring while you have it open, since a scored bore will chew through a fresh seal quickly.

Inconsistent spray with a good tip installed: rule out a clogged filter before assuming the gun itself has an internal problem, since this is by far the more common and less expensive explanation.

Visible cracking or warping in the housing: this is the one symptom that usually means replacement rather than repair, since a damaged housing will continue producing new leaks even after every internal part has been replaced.

Keeping the Gun Running Longer

Flushing the gun thoroughly at the end of every job, rather than just running solvent through the tip, prevents dried material from accelerating wear on the internal seals and trigger mechanism. A gun that sits with dried coating inside it between jobs wears out significantly faster than one that gets a proper flush every time, regardless of how well built the parts themselves are.

Regular inspection matters more than most contractors give it credit for. Catching a worn seal before it fails completely means a simple, inexpensive repair instead of a mid-job breakdown that costs you production time on top of the part itself. A few minutes checking the gun before a job starts is cheap insurance against the alternative.
